How Long Does a Full Renovation Take: Week-by-Week Timeline
Real timelines for a full renovation in Estepona, phase by phase, which delays are common and how to protect your schedule.
A full renovation of a 100 m² flat in Estepona usually lasts 10 to 14 weeks of works plus permit time. A villa takes 16 to 30 weeks. The real timeline depends on permits, bespoke joinery and finish decisions arriving on time.
How is the time split by phase?
| Phase | Indicative duration (100 m² flat) |
|---|---|
| Visit, quote and contract | 1–2 weeks |
| Permit or responsible declaration | Immediate to 6 weeks |
| Demolition and masonry | 2–3 weeks |
| Installations (electrics, plumbing, climate) | 2–3 weeks |
| Tiling, flooring and plasterboard | 2–3 weeks |
| Joinery, kitchen and bathrooms | 2–3 weeks |
| Painting, cleaning and handover | 1 week |
What delays a renovation most?
- Scope changes during the works
- Late orders of joinery, fittings and kitchens
- Major works permits or community approvals
- Hidden surprises such as damp or obsolete installations
- Client decisions on finishes arriving late
How do you protect your schedule?
Close the specification before starting, order anything with a manufacturing lead time at signing and demand a shared weekly schedule. Review milestones weekly with photos to catch deviations early.
Is the deadline signed?
It should be signed in the works contract with start and handover dates and clear delay terms. At La Rada the deadline and price are in writing and follow-up is weekly.
